General Meeting Minutes: January 19th, 2010

Time and Location: 7:00pm College Station Conference Center

Present: Kathy Norwood, Cindy Kovar, Kelvin Morrison, Daniela Weaver, Derek Henson, Emma Ambrose, Melanie Hall, Rosalee McShane, Nichole Franzetti, Lawrence Matus, Dennis Grimes, Butch Ireland, Peggy Lunford, Jim Greenlee, Darrin Hill, Robert Norwood, Kim Smith, Lacy Dagerath, Ashley Wallace

Absent:  Karen Parks

Others Present: Doug and LaVelda Box

Proceedings:

  • Meeting called to order at 6:45 by Kathy Norwood
  • No minutes from previous meeting because of Christmas Party
  • President’s Report-Karen was absent but Doug Box informed our guild that we had been officially approved by the Board and are an affiliate Guild of PPA
  • Vice President’s Report-Derek had nothing to report except that Print Competition is going to be held again and that the speakers be judges of the prints.
  • Treasurer’s Report- Cindy reported on our balance of $2105.42 in the checking account. Reminders were given to pay dues and that guests would need to pay $25 for attending Guild meetings.
  • Secretary’s Report-Minutes from previous meetings will be read to board then voted on and posted on the website. And we need volunteers to help with various committees.
  • Announcements and Other Business-Daniela Weaver gave us a report on the upcoming events: Texas School, Kerrville and TPPA conventions and upcoming speakers
  • Actions taken: None at this time
  • Tabled Issues: Membership
  • Speaker Presentation: Doug Box, M. Photog., Cr., CPP With over 35 years practicing the Art of Posing, Doug will demonstrate his successful techniques that apply to both portrait and wedding photography. Doug will teach you how to create balanced posing, which will allow you to handle any subject’s body size and type. These techniques will enable you to pose any family, couple, and bride & groom. Doug covered how to pose to make people look their best, how to make people look more comfortable in their photographs, how lens selection affects your images and posing men, women and children.
  • Competition Print Results: 1st place-Dennis Grimes with Snowy Sentinel, 2nd place-Derek Henson with Emily’s Thoughts and 3rd place-Dennis Grimes with Farm Maiden
  • Meeting adjourned at 9:30pm

Future Business: Meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 10th
